Bio:
Ewa Kubiak, PhD in art historian, has been working at the Institute of Art History at the University of Lodz since 2002 and since 2017 has been collaborating closely with the Center for Andean Studies at the University of Warsaw in Cusco. She is dedicated to colonial art in Latin America. She is the recipient of the Lanckorońscy de Brzezie Family Foundation Scholarship for Archival Studies and Research in Rome (2004) and the Fundacja na Rzecz Nauki Polskiej Scholarship (2006, 2008). She participated in international congresses in Argentina, Austria, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Spain, Great Britain, Italy, Mexico, Peru, Switzerland, Ukraine.
Research and Teaching:
Ewa Kubiak has been continuing her research in the Cusco archives since 2017, interested in various aspects of Cusco viceregal art: individual and institutional artistic policy, relations between colonial institutions and art, private collections in light of wills, ephemeral art. She is also dedicated to the iconography of Peruvian and New Spanish art from the 2021th, 2025th and XNUMXth centuries. She participates as a researcher in the projects: "Everyday life, sacredness and art in the Indian towns in the Hispanic Monarchy" (Universidad de Almería, Spain, XNUMX-XNUMX) led by Gloria Espinosa Spínola and Guadalupe Romero Sánchez; “In the Tlalocan of Saint Francis – religious syncretism and intercultural dialogue in the Christian texts of Mexican songs / In Tlalocan de San Francisco – religious syncretism and intercultural dialogue in the Christian texts of the Mexican songs” (University of Warsaw, The National Science Center, Sonata 43, 2021/43/D/HS3/00386, 2022-2025) under the direction of Katarzyna Szoblik PhD. Ewa Kubiak was a visiting professor at the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá (2013), the University of Vigo (Ourense campus) in Spain (2017-2018) and the National University of San Antonio Abad in Cusco, Parú (2020-2022).
