Scholarship Regulations:

  1. The scholarship is awarded for research work on Inca culture. It includes the areas of history, anthropology, archaeology, art history, and linguistics. It is intended for applicants who are in the process of preparing a master's or doctoral thesis on the Inca culture. The proposal is not aimed at people who have already completed their doctoral studies.
  2. The scholarship consists of support for the scholarship recipient's research work for a period of 6 months, preferably in Peru. The scholarship includes free accommodation in two homes available to the CEAC in the cities of Cusco and Arequipa (the scholarship recipient can use both facilities, with prior agreement of the CEAC Board of Directors), the right to use the office and laboratory spaces and the equipment. CEAC scientist in these two cities as well as financial support for a total of US$ 6000 (six thousand US dollars).

The scholarship can also be used in other countries that were part of Tahuantinsuyu, namely Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina and Chile, or in countries where materials and collections relevant to the study of Inca culture are found. However, in such cases, support for the scholarship recipient would be limited to the subsidy fee of US$6 (six thousand US dollars) for the entire period of research work. The scholarship does not include support for accommodation in locations other than Cusco and Arequipa.

Only one scholarship is offered per year and it is not renewable. Applicants for the scholarship must present a certificate of academic affiliation in master's or doctoral studies with a specialization in Inca studies and a letter of recommendation from their thesis/dissertation director. In exceptional cases, applications from independent researchers may be considered, as long as they already have a bachelor's or master's degree.

There is no restriction regarding the country of origin of the candidates but the final works must be presented in Spanish.

The scholarship is for 6 months, counting from the day the scholarship recipient enters the country where they will carry out their research work.

The duration of the scholarship may be extended for a period to be agreed upon by the Committee. But in such case the support to the Beneficiary will be limited to accommodation in Cusco and/or Arequipa and access to the CEAC infrastructure, an additional financial contribution will not be contemplated.

The call for the scholarship will usually be between the months of June/July of each year, to begin research work from January of the following year.

In all subsequent publications based on studies carried out within the framework of the scholarship, the Scholar agrees to acknowledge having been supported in his or her work by the scholarship.

At the end of the research work period, the Scholarship Holder must present a report to the Scholarship Committee and the CEAC.

Required documents:

Applicants for the Scholarship must present the forms duly completed and signed attachments, as well as a letter of introduction from the tutor professor who will direct the research with the commitment to monitor it for the duration of the scholarship.
